All full-time students of the University
are assigned to Halls of Residence. When applying for admission,
students must indicate their preference for a particular Hall.
Assignment to a Hall does not mean that a student is offered
residence. Only full-time students of the University are eligible
to apply for accommodation on Campus and only a small percentage
of those applying can be housed.
On-campus accommodation is limited
and in great demand. Off-Campus accommodation may be arranged
There are six Halls of Residence
on the Mona Campus:
- Aston Preston Hall - male and female occupants
- Chancellor Hall - males only
- Irvine Hall - male and female occupants
- Mary Seacole Hall - females only
- Rex Nettleford Hall - male and female occupants
- Taylor Hall - male and female occupants
Each Hall of Residence is provided with a laundry, equipped with
coin-operated washers and dryers, and either a lunch room
or kitchen
A Resident Advisor, whose duty is to provide assistance to residents,
is assigned to each Hall.
Conditions for Residing on Hall
Hall fees are payable in full at the beginning of the semester
(unless other arrangements have been made with the Bursary)
and become due from the time of occupancy. Therefore, persons
taking up permanent or temporary residence before the start
of term must pay for the additional period of residence.
There are Regulations governing occupancy in Hall which
are given to all residents on entry to the Hall. Failure
to adhere to such regulations may result in your removal
from the Hall.
During vacation periods, students who wish to remain in
residence may do so only with the permission of the Student
Services Manager and will be required to pay for such accommodation
in advance.
Off Campus
Students who opt to reside off-campus should make contact with
the Lodgings Officer (876-702-3493), who will assist you
in locating suitable accommodation near the Campus. The
office will also provide information on prices of various
types of residence.
