The Campus Library System

facilitiesThere are three major libraries at the UWI Mona:

  • The Main Library has collections in Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. Its Postgraduate Learning Commons offer facilities and services to postgraduate students to work and study in a user- friendly environment. Computers equipped with a wide range of software are available in a lab setting where you can search databases; find electronic resources; send e-mail or browse the Internet; and use photocopying, scanning and printing equipment.
  • The Medical Library features Medicine and Nursing selections
  • The Science Library contains materials in Pure and Applied Sciences and Pre- Clinical medicine.

During Orientation, you will be fully briefed on how to use the library’s resources, including its services and locations of the various collections; how to use the library’s catalogues; how to find material on your reading list; how to borrow material from each area; and observing the library’s rules and regulations. Internet access is widely available in the libraries to enhance research.

Internet Accounts

Personal Internet accounts are offered through the Mona Information Technology Services ( MITS), which offers high speed dialup Internet ( referred to as the UWIMonaNet) for a nominal fee.

Library Computer Labs

Personal computers and laptops are available for use in the libraries’ computer labs.

facilitiesInstallation of a new integrated system ( ALEPH) has made it easier to access the library’s Online Public Access Catalogue, which significantly broadens the service options. You can verify which books you have on loan, reserve books online, save searches, and even send the results to your e-mail account.

Laptop Rental

Personal computers and laptops are available for rent, at a reduced rates for students, from MITS.

The University Bookshop

facilitiesProvides for the faculty, students and others a wide variety of texts, journals, stationery and memorabilia to support the academic programmes as required by the teaching departments.





Video Conferencing

With nine modern multimedia lecture theatres on campus, world- class academic materials and presentations are at your fingertips

The Mona Information Technology Services (MITS) has expanded the campus network infrastructure, making computer services and internet access widely available through 30 new wireless hotspots. Full video conferencing systems put you in touch with other UWI campuses and international conferences to enhance your learning and research experience.
